Hey everyone. So, my name is Lydia and I have thick curly
brown hair. I like my hair, it is one of the things that I like most about my
appearance. However, my hair is prone to fizziness and dryness like the next
girl. So here, I thought I’d share with you a few of my hair tips and a few of
my favourite hair products- on a budget.

Curl Definition Hair Mousse vrs Review | Blogmas Day 8
Hey,
So as a girl with curly hair, I always find finding a hair
product I love takes a lot of work. My hair can be dry, frizzy and fluffy- and
I don’t like it being any of these things. I use mousse after I wash my hair
because it keeps and defines my natural curl for longer and it is an important
step in my hair routine.
The two hair mousses I’ve tried are cheap and affordable, so
if you’re on a budget then these products are defiantly worth a looking in to. I
bought these in either supermarkets or boots, and both are under £5.
The VO5 ‘Curl Defining Mousse’ is one that I’ve tried out
for a while, and also one that I’ve loved. After washing, I scrunch some mousse
up into my curls and it dries in. I always find that this product seems to hold
my curls for ages- which is great. I find that the product smells good, and the
bottle can last for a few weeks. Also at just £4.19, it’s an easy choice! Lately
I have found myself depending on this so much because it guarantees that my
curls won’t dry flat!
The other mousse is one that I trialled when it was on offer
at Tesco. This was the Pantene 'Pro-V Mousse Defined Curls'. I was impressed by the packaging, and larger bottle size, but soon I
was unconvinced. I found that the hold and definition in my curls was worse
than the V05 mousse, and soon the product just ran out. However, you can’t
knock the price of this because it will only cost you £2.79. For me, there was
just nothing that impressed me about this and it was really a disappointing product.
So overall, I recommend the VO5 mousse because of how long
it lasts and the quality for money. As a curly haired girl, I am always looking
for new recommendations so please let me know. Also, if you’re interested, I am
holding a Christmas Q&A here so head on over and ask me some festive
questions! Other than that, I hope you all have a seasonal day,

September Favourites
Hey,
So I now this post is going to be a little late, but as we’re
still only in our first week of October, I decided I’d still put up my
September favourites. This post will only be a short one because there aren’t that
many new favourite things this month- but there are also some products which I’ve
been adoring.
First are two necklaces that I received for my birthday,
that I forgot to put in My birthday haul, but I have been loving. I’ve been
getting into accessories now autumn is coming, and I’ve always wanted some
pretty dainty necklaces like these. The silver triangle necklace is quite
short, but works well with a simple or complicated outfit, the other is a
gorgeous gold wishbone necklace which I think is so cute and effective. They are
both really affordable and are from ASOS.

Wishbone necklace
The neck item of my September favourites is actually a lip
balm. I’ve written about a few different lip balms recently (like my liploving post), but this one is defiantly the best. I bought this for the back
to school season, but this balm has been moved between me school bag and make
up drawers practically every day. Nivea is a great lip balm brand, and this is
just the original ‘essential care’ version. I bought the stick version, and am
so glad I did, as I can put it on quickly and anywhere- not having to worry
about dirty fingers. My only problem is that recently a snapped the stick… so I
guess it’s time to repurchase.
The next product is another birthday present, but this time
it’s my mascara from Benefit. The ‘They’re real’ mascara really is the best
mascara I’ve ever used. It adds length, volume and definition, coating each
lash for a bold look. Build it up, dress
it down, this mascara works for any occasion. My favourite thing about it is
the wand though, I love the end of the tip as it is great for separating top
and bottom lashes.
They're Real mascara
This product is one I never expected to see in a favourites
post. ‘Baby Lips’ had a really hype earlier this year, and when I bought one
for myself- I hated it. However, now I have been loving it. I don’t know what
has changed, but when I picked it up earlier this month it just worked for me.
I love to use this as an everyday lip for school, as it is sheer but adds a
tiny tint of colour. I have the shade ‘Peach Kiss’ and would recommend it for a
natural look.
So the fifth favourite is again a birthday present. This Scottie
fog block calendar is literally my favourite room accessory at the moment. I
get so excited when I get to change it every morning, and have noticed how I am
now aware of the data- which is so useful at school! I think you can get this
sort of thing anywhere and in so many different styles, but mine is defiantly
the best one I’ve seen.
The penultimate item is one I featured earlier this month in
my *bmmdi* post. Ever since I’ve used it, I’ve noticed such a difference in the
removing of makeup. The Garnier Micellar cleansing water is amazing for taking
off makeup and cleaning my skin. It’s a cheap alternative to some of the top
end makeup removers, and is available in so many shops and supermarkets.
So my last favourite is my Frizz Ease Dream curls shampoo
and conditioner. I reviewed these here but they still impress me after every
wash. Totally recommend.
Activity of the month: Cooking. I baked some marble cupcakes
this month and there were yummy, really reminded me how much I love to bake.
Aim for October: Get back into skincare.
So that’s all for this post, I added a new aim section so
you can know what I’m going to try and improve. Next months in skincare because
since we went back to school, I’ve become so lazy when it comes to it so that’s
my target! I hope you all had an amazing September and that your Octobers are
all magical,

REVIEW: Frizz Ease Dream Curls and Serum
Hey,
So today’s post is going to be a hair-care review. Lately I
have been a little confused with my hair, unimpressed by many of the shampoos
and conditioners I’ve tried. However this combination of serum, shampoo and
conditioner seems to have worked, so I thought I’d let you know.
With curly hair, I find I am prone to it becoming frizzy and
dry. Other shampoos and conditioners (s&cs) have left my hair dry, puffy,
frizzy or dehydrated, and even the ones I’ve liked haven’t fulfilled my needs.
When looking for s&cs, I find there is so many for dyed
hair or straight hair but few to none that target curly hair. Nevertheless, one
day I decided to splurge on one that did. I used to use the brand Frizz Ease a
long time ago, and was excited to give it another try.
So I decided to buy the shampoo and conditioner from the ‘Dream
Curl’ range and the ‘Extra Strength, 6 effects’ serum. I have been using these
together for about a month, and have managed to go through a whole tube of the
s&c.
I don’t know what it is but when I wash my hair, let it dry
naturally, and there is so much life back in my hair. My hair is bouncy and my
curls stay in shape, my hair also has a shine with this combination.
I apply a few pumps of the serum to wet hair and I find this
is what is limiting the amount of frizz in my hair. I love this, but I think
for some people who will find this too expensive, there are probably cheaper
alternatives.
I feel like my faith has returned to the world of hair-care
with these products, and Frizz Ease is now one of my top hair brands. It fits
in well with the few other products I use to keep my hair healthy, and the
s&c leave my hair salon sleek.
I would defintely recommend this shampoo for people with
wavy to curly hair, especially if you feel your hair has been a little
weathered recently. The brand is available in drugstores and supermarkets,
although the ‘Dream Curls’ range may differ.
The only disadvantage to these products is the price. In
Tesco the price of the shampoo and conditioner is £5.89 each. The serum is
£6.25. I would definitely recommend buying the products when the brand is on
offer, for example I got the s&c for a deal of ‘2 for £8’.
So that’s all for today. I’m loving using these so much but
if you have any hair recommendations for curly hair, please let me know. Thanks
for reading, I hope you have an amazing day,

Empties #1
Hey everyone,
Well June is here already and I can’t believe it, summer is
just around the corner now. This month I will be posting a lot of holiday
themed blog posts, but if there is anything other you would like, just comment
down below.
So this post is my very first ‘empties’. If you are
unfamiliar with these posts/ videos, this is where I show you some products I
have used up and my final thoughts on them!
To start I have a candle. I really loved this candle when I
first purchased it, as it smelt gorgeous- in a vanilla scent. After using it
several times, I have found that the scent isn’t strong enough for my as it
doesn’t linger
after I have stopped burning it. I purchased this candle for
£4.99 at a Homesense store.
The next product is a shampoo and conditioner I have used
all of this month. It is from ‘Herbal Essences’ and is the ‘beautiful ends’ formula.
This shampoo/conditioner is meant to target split ends and is for ‘mid to long
hair’. I had mixed thoughts with this product. I thought it did have an effect
on my hair, especially in the first few uses, but after a while I found my hair
to often be a little too straw-like. I have dry and often frizzy hair, and this
shampoo didn’t really help. Another point is that the products are meant to
smell of raspberry, but the scent was barely there. Buy theme here: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=266326743
, each for £3.79.
Next is a hairspray. I don’t use hairspray very often, so I
normally buy cheaper/ drugstore hairsprays that last my months. This hairspray
was the basic ‘Tesco, Everyday Value- Hair spray’. This is an average
hairspray. It holds well, but isn’t good for long-lasting use. I also found my
hair went dry and sticky and hard with this. I can’t knock it for the price
really though, costing me only 37p. Buy it here: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=255934247
Next is the ‘Soap & Glory, Righteous Butter’. This is a
really lovely body butter made with shea butter and aloe vera. I really loved
this, because unlike the Body Shop Body Butters, this is a less solid butter
and I find it easier to use. It’s got a clean fresh scent and is great to
message into your skin. This butter has lasted me ages as well, so for the
price is lasts months. You can buy it here: http://www.soapandglory.com/the-righteous-body-butter
for £10.50, although it is cheaper in other stores or online.
This next set of products is a
non-beauty related one. I am a very organised persona and love to colour code
things, therefore I often write a lot in colour. These are my favourite ink fine
point pens, and they are from ‘v-point’. The full name of them is ‘Pilot V5 Hi-Tecpoint Rollerball Pen Extra-Fine’. You can
buy these in the normal colours- black, blue and red, but what I really like I
the fact that the can come in pink, purple and light blue. I use these for
school work or just generally keeping notes about anything. They write like any
other ink pen, and the fine poing means you can also use them for outlining or
art. They aren’t cheap, but they have lasted many months for me. Buy them here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pilot-Roller-Ball-Pen-Turquoise/dp/B008LUQSR0/ref=pd_sim_office_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0XQ0TECVCNZ34FJQ93NQ for £7.49
This next product is one of my
favourite ever nail products. It is the ‘BarryM, Basecoat, hardener and
topcoat’. This product adds a extra level of shine on your nail polish, makes
it last longer and strengthens your nails in the long run. I use this all the
time, either on top of a colour or on my plain nails (for school). This product
lasts a long time, but as soon as I’m out- I have to repurchase! It is available
here: http://www.barrym.com/products/nails/care/all-in-one-nail-paint.html for the normal ‘BarryM’ price of
£2.99/.
The penultimate
emptied product is one I use all the time, but I don’t think I’ve really talked
about before. This is the ‘VO5, curl defining moose’ which is part of the
‘smoothly does it’ range. I use this product every time I wash my hair, and it
works to hold my curls and keep them from dropping too much. I have used this
for months and really depend on it. Lately though I have been becoming un-impressed
by it’s effect. As I have been growing my hair longer, my curls are dropping
because of their weight. If you have any tips or products for curly hair,
please let me know down below! Buy the ‘curl defining moose’ here: http://www.boots.com/en/VO5-Smoothly-Does-It-Curl-Defining-Mousse-200ml_924238/ for just £3.79 now!
The final product
is the ‘Boots, cleansing and toning wipes’ from the ‘tea tree and witch-hazel’
range. I use these as an initial make-up wipe or to clean my skin. They are
great for if you are quickly cleaning your skin but I also find they work well
at getting make-up of. I use just one every night, to remove any make up. They
also managed to get of the ‘They’re real’ mascara from Benefit, which I was
very impressed buy. I love this range so much for easy, drugstore skincare. Buy
them here: http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Tea-Tree-and-Witch-Hazel-Cleansing-Wipes-25s_1213600/ for £3.39.
So that’s all, did
you enjoy this type of post? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below,
have a lovely June day,

My Monthly Favourites: April
Hey,
So I can’t believe it but April is now over and May had
begun, and I’ve decided to show you some of my monthly favourites. I know I
didn’t do one in March, and there aren’t that many but here are some products
and items I have loved this month!
The ‘Aussie miracle hair insurance, lightweight conditioning
spray’ is my first favourite. I have been using this spray to soften my hair
and it really works. My hair type never is completely soft, but using this
spray does make my hair feel noticeably smoother. I spray this on wet hair or
on more than one day old hair to give it a boost, and it just seems to work
nice. More information is here-http://www.aussiehair.com/uk/products/miracle-hair-insurance-leave-in-conditioner.php,
and the product is available from many UK
stores including Boots and Tesco.
The next favourite of mine is something a literally adore.
This is my favourite nail polish at the moment and it is the Barry M high shine
gelly nail polish in Blueberry. This colour is so beautiful for spring, being a
soft periwinkle to cornflower blue shade. It is an alternative to the
mainstream pastels colours but has a similar effect. To read my reviews on this
and other spring nail polishes click here- http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/spring-nail-polishes.html,
the link also has purchasing and price details.
Now is my next favourite which is the foundation I’ve been
using this month. My max factor foundation ran out earlier this year and I was
in need of a new foundation. I had no idea what type of product I wanted, so
decided on something cheap so that if I disliked it, it wouldn’t matter. As it
is I really like the ‘collection, lasting perfection ultimate wear foundation’
as it works really well with my skin. I think it looks natural and never looks
orange but I do notice that it has good coverage and does cover up blemishes
well. You can buy the product here- http://www.boots.com/en/Collection-Lasting-Perfection-Ultimate-Wear-Foundation-SPF-20_1436025/
for just £5.99.
My fourth favourite is another make up favourite. This
product is my ‘Kate’ lipstick in the shade 08. It is a ‘lasting finish’
lipstick and I really love it. I bought this in about February and now I use it
all the time. The shade is a your-lips-but-better colour, a rosy toned shade,
that looks natural but at the same time cute for spring. I really like this
lipstick because of the colour and its long lasting qualities that stays for a
reasonable time.
One of my fashion favourites this month has been pastel
colours. I don’t really follow trends, but I have really tried to add pastel
colours into my spring wardrobe. I think pastel colours are so beautiful and
add a lovely touch to make an outfit fresher. I like to incorporate pastel
colours with accessories like cardigans, nail polishes, bags and jewellery.
My next favourite is a classic thing for me. I have chosen
to put Disney movies on my favourite especially this month because I have
watched so many. I have loved Frozen since I got it as a gift for Easter, and
have already watched it at least twice since then. I have also enjoyed Tangled
(one of my most watched Disney movies because I just love the story so much)
and classics like Beauty and the Beast. I use Disney movies as a thing to calm
me down after a stressful and busy day, as well as a treat for weekday nights
when there isn’t enough time for a long movie. What I personally love to do is
have a bath and pamper night finished with a Disney movie before bed. I love
that I can feel like a child and am absorbed into the happy world of Disney, if
just for an evening.
My next monthly favourite is the Divergent series. As you
probably guessed from my many reviews, I love Divergent. This trilogy book
series by Veronica Roth is about a girl, called Beatrice having to decide where
she fit in society and the consequences for each choice she makes. It is a romantic
story filled with action, love, friendship, trust and family bonds, and is
unlike any other book I’ve read. It is filled with heart-warming experiences
that leave tales and morals deep in your mind. It is an amazing book, and the
film is also incredible. My book review is here: http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/book-review-divergent-by-veronica-roth.html
This month my favourite shops have been H&M and New
Look, because the stock has been affordable as well as on trend for spring. My
favourite buys from them are, from H&M, my collection of skater skirts that
I have been loving to wear so much and, from New Look, my dusty pink/ pastel
pink cami top which is so cute to style.
Favourite hobby: reading as I have been reading the
Divergent series. I think it’s really good to read as it improves your
literacy, takes you along on a brilliant story and gives you time to yourself,
which is very important in our busy lives.
Favourite food: Since lent is over I have been kind of
obsessed with chocolate. My favourite Easter treats being mini eggs and general
Easter eggs, yummy!
Favourite drink: Costa’s mocha coffee. I have always loved
this drink but now I can drink it again I am in love!
So that’s all for this month’s monthly favourites, what were
you April favourites? Let me know in the comments below. Hope your all having a
lovely spring,
