MyOutfit: Christmas Jumper | Blogmas Day 15

Hey,

So today’s post is going to be a new type of series. Similar to an OOTD, I want to create a series of ‘my outfit’ posts. I basically changed the way that I was doing these types of posts because I wanted them to be more like a series and I’ve decided that I dislike the phrase OOTD! I hope you like this, you’ll be seeing a few more soon I’m sure!

My outfit today is based on how I love to wear my Christmas jumper. Everyone has a festive jumper and they are perfect for this time of year for a simple look. My jumper isn’t too tacky or in your face, but this look can work with the fashion or cheesy type.

If you were wondering, my jumper has tiny little penguins and silver snowflakes on it and I choose it because it was subtle. I wanted something that I could style more, instead of a mad 3d creation-although they are super Christmas-sy and a laugh. The jumper is so soft and the grey colour makes it very wearable.

I styled my jumper with a black skirt and opaque black tights. The tights I am wearing are actually amazing because they are fleeced inside! This makes it so much easier to wear a skirt in winter! If you are really up for a novelty Christmas then why dont you wear a festive hat like my Christmas pudding one! Mines from Primark menswear. 

I am also wearing some shoes I am seriously excited for. I am very lucky ans I was recently bought these brown Chelsea boots after having wanted a pair for MONTHS. My Primark boots have finally given up and I wanted a neater less-casual pair for this winter. I love brown boots so much and adore this style but I hesitated because I wasn’t sure I could pull them off. However I eventually decided that I really did want them and I think they look so cute with these New Look frilled socks! I cant wait to wear them again and again!

My Top Winter Nail Polishes | Blogmas Day 14

SO I wanted to begin with saying that I’m sorry! Today’s post is late because I was really unorganised and managed to get behind. Well at least I got it up before the day was out, today I want to talk about my favourite winter nail polishes. I love painting my nails, and the warmer darker shades are some of my favourite so here are my top 5.

I know the majority of these polishes are from Barry M but that is for two reasons, 1- the brand is amazing and I’m nearly always impressed with every colour I use and 2- the price is always so much more affordable than other brands!

The first shade I have been loving is a classic that I love ever year and always turn back to. This warm brown shade called ‘mushroom’ is from the original Barry M nail paint range. It matches all winter outfits and for just £2.99, it’s a must-have.

The second shade is a gorgeous warm mossy khaki green. I love this shade because it is an alternative the normal navys, burgundys or purples. It is from the Gelly BarryM nail polish range, so is thicker than the nail paint, and is £3.99. The shade is ‘cardamom’.

The third colour is my most recent purchase, a matt dark red called ‘crush’. The berry colour is so popular at this time of year and I am addicted to it as well. This is the first time I have ever tried a matt polish and I like how it is different. Its £3.99 from BarryM, and the colour is one I’m sure every nail polish lover will love.

The fourth is one that is so festive but could be used all year round. This party-season silver glittered polish from SEVENTEEN, is my favourite glitter polish ever. With silver and holographic specs throughout, you can use the shade as a topcoat or as an opaque polish. It is one of the brand’s ‘quicker slicker colour’ polishes that are just £2.99- so a great price!

The fifth is another glitter polish and this glitter is made up of different sized specs of blue, pink, silver, gold and a few others too. I think it is so pretty and would look so cute on top of a black or white. It’s the shade ‘atlantis’ from BarryM’s Aquarium collection and is £3.99. If you’re a glitter-polish lover than take a look at this range because there is a great variety!

5 Tips for Getting Into That Festive Mood | Blogmas Day 13

Today I just wanted to put up a quick post because I’m off to London tomorrow, I’m sure I’ll put up some photos after too.  I’m really excited because it promises to be a really festive day!

I know that I have been writing a lot of Christmas-sy posts lately but it is literally the best time of the year for me. If you aren't interested, or don’t celebrate this time, then stay tuned for more updates this week.

My top tips for becoming festive…

1.       Get into the mood at any time you can. For me this is putting on a lot of Christmas music until I know every word of every song, watching Christmas movies and going out shopping for presents for friends and family. I also have been loving to wear my Christmas jumper because every time I see it, it puts me in that festive mood.

2.       Decorating. Be it the house or just your room, decorating for Christmas really adds a festive touch. More infomation about my room decorating is available on this post. 

3.       Advent Calendar. I don’t think you can ever get too old for an advent calendar and knowing that for every day of December before Christmas there is the treat of a bite-size chocolate, is so exciting. I am actually super lucky because I have two- because my Nan loves me lots and lots- a Thornton’s one and a Malteaser one.

4.       Wrapping presents and writing cards. Giving at Christmas is priceless and spending time over presents or cards for others makes me feel so full of Christmas joy.  I think when you put effort into a gift it is so rewarding because you can put all your love and appreciation into something that they will surely love!

5.       Lastly I would say enjoy the season. Its cold outside and everyone around is starting to become festive too, so look around and appreciate all the magic that this time brings. It’s only once a year after all so don’t let those days fly by before it’s too late. Sit down, have a festive drink and spend time with those you love.

The Clothes Show Live 2014 | Blogmas Day 12

So on Monday this week, I had the privilege of attending the Clothes Show Live at the NEC in Birmingham for the second year running. The trip is an annual event in school as I do textiles GSCE and it is always a great day.

I love the Clothes Show Live because it involves shopping, which I love, and an incredible catwalk show. The show is always the highlight of the day, and this years did not let it down. The show includes huge designer names and acts as well as dance and music.

The star cast this year included the Xfactor band Stereokicks and Made In Chelsea celebrity Jamie Laing. We went on the Monday of the five day Clothes Show, so sadly missed a lot of other celebs and Youtubers, like Alfie, Jim and Fleur.

The clothes in the catwalk were amazing. There was a mixture of themes during the show, including daytime, winter and disco. Some of my favourite outfits were the bright, vivid colours of the New York shoppers, the stunning snow queen dress and the grey silk dress and white muff outfit.

I had an amazing time shopping at the market stalls too, picking up some Christmas presents and bargains for me to. This included the Ciate ‘Dollshouse’ nail polish gift set that retails for £18 and I got it for £5!

Decorating My Room For Christmas | Blogmas Day 11

So now Christmas has truly rolled around it comes to the time when you must get into that festive mood and dress the house with Christmas decorations. For me, the best part of decorating the house is decorating my bedroom so today’s post is going to be about just that. I wanted to show you how I decorate my room and some tips to creating the best festive environment.

1.       Fairy Lights. At the moment, everyone seems to be using fairy lights in their room as décor anyway, but I think adding some twinkling lights to your room at this time of year is essential.

2.       Candle and tealights. I love having scented candles and tealights in my room at this time of year. For scented candles, I love anything sweet or Christmas-y, and burning them in my room means that I always get a waft of warm scent every time I walk in and out my room. I have recently done a tealight DIY and I did one with tin cans earlier in the year, if you fancy doing a DIY project.

3.       Bed. I love to cover my bed with a few festive cushions and toys around Christmas because every time I look at it it makes me feel so Christmas-y. Adding Christmas cushions and toys also make my bed even more comfy and cosy, which is essential for winter nights.

4.       I love to find cute unique decorations to put around my room in Christmas time, and these can range in price and quality. For example I have recently bought this beautiful golden glitter star, seen in one of my photos, and I adore it. The best thing about it is that it was just 99p from a local 99p store! Another example is a wooden reindeer I bought at a school DT fair, it was cheap and is totally unique, so I love it.
