Haul // Summer 2015

Hey everyone. I love clothes and fashion and, subsequently, I get a huge enjoyment for shopping. For the last few months, I’ve bought a few things here and there- but these are mostly things you’ve seen in reviews and outfits. So today, as I went shopping only a few days ago, I thought I’d show you some of my most recent buys! I love hauls (the nosy bit of me I think) so I hope you too enjoy this.
This collection of bits and bobs are a bit mixed up- there’s a bit of clothing, makeup and even a new book! I’ve been on my holiday this year, so I’ve not necessary got things I need to buy… but that won’t stop me!

My Travel Diary - Sorrento, Italy '14

Hey everyone,

So last week I went on holiday! I wanted to start a long-running series on my blog where I can show you some of my travels, for example holidays and weekends away. This new series, called 'my travel diary', will include some photos and my thoughts- although these images will not normally feature people as I am not comfortable with sharing photos of my friends/ family online.
These photos are just a snapshot of some of the things I did this holiday, I'm sorry the quality isn't great either- but it's quite good considering it's take on a basic camera (with a horrid focus and zoom)!

My holiday this year was a school trip to Sorrento for 6 days. Sorrento is a picturesque town on the coast of Italy, near to Naples. I found the location stunning, filled with a beautiful blue seas and gorgeous Italian houses. The weather was beautiful all week and our small Hotel, the Hotel Cavour, fitted our needs, as a school trip, well. I did so many amazing things, and made lots of new friends, as well as luckily getting to explore many cultural sites.
In this jam-packed week I climbed Mount Vesuvius, visited the Pompeii ruins, made pizza, visited a mozzarella farm, made Gelato (Itailen ice cream) and ate a lot of it, as well as going on many visits into
Sorrento town and market. On one day I also got to go on a boat trip, with deckchairs like a cruise ship, to Amalfi- where we spent time in the town and on the beach! One amazing memory I made from this was jumping off the boat into the sea with my best friend, we were nervous but the water was warm and it was so much fun.
I was very privileged to get to go on this trip with my school, and would definitely encourage anyone who has the chance to take it, as you meet a lot of people and learn so much about them. I got to go with my friends as well, and I think we all had an incredible time.
I ate a lot of good food, bought a lot of souvenirs, put on a lot of sun cream and made a lot of memories. I miss you, Sorrento, so much and hope one day I can come back again!

Haul ~ Summer Edition - July 2014 | #summerstyle

Hey everyone,

I hope your summer’s are all going great, and that your enjoying my #summerstyle. Lately I have been preparing for a holiday to Italy so have been buying a lot of new summer items. I decided I’d do a haul for the very first time, please let me know if you like this on my blog/ any tips or improvement in the comments.

So the first and my favourite this is this top from Miss Selfridge. I looked at this top online and wanted it for ages, and one day I walked into a store and it was there- just one and in my size. I tried it on and it looked just how I imagined. I like the girly theme think top has and the attention to details. It is like a normal cami but with extra material that goes across the chest and onto the back, which is really flattering. This top is sort of cropped but not too much and I would match it with a pair of light denim jeggings or a black skater skirt.
The top cost £20 which is quite a lot but I love it a lot and it is a very nice quality.

So the next item is the pair of light wash denim jeggings I wear with the first top. These jeggins are from New Look and are from the ‘supersoft’ range and are in a really pretty light shade. These are great from summer as they are comfy and look so cute with summer tops. The light colour also means they are fit for the season and will defiantly be a statement garment in my wardrobe.

This new top is another cami, but this one is a tribal printed one from New Look. It is made from cotton so fits really nicely and hangs very flatteringly. I like this because it is patterned but not too in your face. The top looks great with jeggings or a skater skirt and is so easy to dress up or dress down. I have been wearing this top all the time so far this summer and I am sure I will find a way to transform it into an all year top.

The next clothing item is from Primark. This pale pink top was about £5 but I haven’t got the tag as I wear it very often. I bought this around Easter and I love the 3d flower effect. This pastel coloured top is just so interesting and unique, and I love to wear it with a denim skater skirt. Sadly there is no link and it may not be available any more.

The next item is a swimming costume. I really struggled to find a swimming costume this year, as most shops only sell bikinis. I find that I don’t like to wear bikinis due to my body shape and size, and I would wear a tankini but I didn’t find one. This swimsuit was from F&F (at Tesco) and is black with bright coloured flowers. I think this looks slimming on my because of its shape and the ruching on the tummy. It is very supportive, especially is the chest area, and has a think halter tie strap. The best thing is that it is so affordable at just £15 at http://www.clothingattesco.com/swimwear/f+f-magic-floral-twist-secret-support-swimsuit/invt/jo412701&bklist=icat,4,shop,catgwomens,womens-swimwear

The next item is a pair of shoes. I love my converse but I find I can’t always afford their price tag. These shoes are a pair of rip-off white converse from Peacocks. I don’t normally shop in this shop, but when I saw these I just had to have them. I have always loved the look of white converse but have always worried about staining/ ruining them. Because these shoes were a lot cheaper, I won’t worry about this so much and I think they will be a great pair of summer shoes. I can’t wait to wear them and match them with summer outfits like skirts and dresses.

The item is my favourite buy by far; these are my new sunglasses from Accessorize. In the past, I have only ever had cheap ugly sunglasses that last a weeks holiday and I don’t wear again. However, these are a lovely pair of sunglasses that are a statement. They really add to an outfit and make everything feel more summery. The cat eye shaped frame makes you look really fashionable and put together, and I love how they obre down in darkness. Buy theme here for £14, http://uk.accessorize.com/view/product/uk_catalog/acc_5,acc_5.2/5933122000

To go with my sunglasses I got this simple bright blue case from Primark. This case was £3 I think and fits my sunglasses perfectly. I love this case because it is hard so offers protection and will stop your sunglasses from getting too battered or broken.

Another item I got from Primark is a hat. I wanted a hat for my holiday because I know you need to protect your head, but I know my hat history isn’t good so I just got a cheap £4 hat. This white floppy hat should be good for my holiday, although the fit isn’t too great.

The only other items in this summer haul was some makeup from boots. A lot of these featured in my previous make up tutorial so I wont say much, I also haven’t had much time to test them. I got the Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Waterproof mascara, the Rimmel London Hide The Blemish Concealer, the Maybelling Dream Pure BB Cream and an Apocalips lip gloss in the shade 101 celestial.

And that’s all, this is just some of my spring/summer shopping from June for July 2014. I hope you enjoyed this type of post, and I hope you all have an amazing week,

Summer Natural Everyday Make Up | #summerstyle

This post is going to be my very first tutorial for make up. This is a really simple natural make up look for summer that is light and wearable. In the summer I personally like to wear less make up and depend on essentials like waterproof mascara. I hope you enjoy this, if you want a more interesting summer look, just comment down below.

To create this look I used:
  • Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream
  • A face moisturiser
  • Maybelline Stay Matt Powder
  • Rimmel London Hide the Blemish Concealer
  • Nivea sun protection stick
  • Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Waterproof mascara
  • Black felt tip eyeliner
  • No7 ‘Mischief’ stay perfect lipstick

To start I mix the BB cream with a small dab of moisturiser, mix an amount depending on the pigment you want on your face. I blend it in with my fingers until I get a smooth effect. If it’s a hot day I also add some suncream to my face.

Next I add some concealer under my eyes and over any spots. After I like to matt-ify my face with some powder, to avoid too much shine.

After this I like to do my eyes. I don’t like to wear eyeshadow for my everyday natural makeup as I think it can look over the top. This is personal, but if you did want to wear eyeshadow, I would choose a natural brown or nude-pink shade. I choose to just add a thin layer of eyeliner using my felt tip eyeliner from Primark. I choose to do this as I wear my everyday natural look to school and I don’t like to wear too much eyeliner there.

Now I add mascara. I have really been enjoying the Falsies waterproof mascara although I am yet to test how waterproof it is. I add a few coats and then I’m done with eyes. I like this mascara as it really lengthens my lashes and makes them bold.

For lips I begin with the Nivea sun protection balm. This is really important as it prevents your lips from being burnt or effected by the sun.  I especially like the Nivea one because it has SPF 30. Over the top I like to add a hint of colour, so I lightly dab over this lipstick and rub my lips together until I get the baby pink shade I like.

And that’s it. So simple and yet it is great for those summer days when you don’t want to be too covered up but want some straightforward makeup. I hope your enjoying the #summerstyle series,

Summertime Styling Tag | #summerstyle

Hey everyone,

So this is the second post in the series #summerstyle, I hope my readers are enjoying it! This is actually a very exciting post for me, as it is going to be a tag that I created. I created the ‘summertime styling tag’ with Hannah from http://glittermelody.blogspot.co.uk/ because we were both keen on creating a tag that would join bloggers in a fun way- with some questions all about the summertime!

Hannah is really talented, so please head over to her blog- she is also a beauty blogger (but this tag could be for any blogger), and soon she is starting Youtube videos so any support for her would be amazing!
That’s all, the way this works is I answer the questions that Hannah and I make, I tag some bloggers and then the tag circulates. However if you are interested in doing this tag yourself, just leave the link below so I can go any read/ comment!!! Thanks and enjoy,

1) What do you love most about summer?

Well summer isn’t my favourite of the seasons, but I do really love it. I would say my favourite thing about it is the memories that you make. Summer brings the sunshine and longer day, as well as the long holiday, so I love to spend days out with my friends and family.

2) What 5 things are on your bucket list for the summer?

I haven’t made a summer bucket list yet, but I would say it would be to (1) see the sea, (2) make a daisychain, (3) go on an airplane –which I am doing really soon, (4) have a water fight and (5) climb a tree –which I’ve never done-.

3) What skincare products do you use in the summer season and why?

At the moment I haven’t sorted out my skincare for summer, but I will probably keep it basic as I want to waste the least amount of time possible on myself and spend more time with others.

4) Do you wear more or less makeup in the summer and why?

Probably less because I leave out foundations and most make up. Just a bit of mascara, maybe liner and lip salve and I’m ready to go!

5) What products being skincare and makeup do you use/ wear in the summer but not in the winter?

Waterproof mascara, it’s so useful in the summer but in winter I prefer the effect of non-waterproof mascaras, as I always think that the formula looks better on my lashes. However I am up for trying new mascaras/ waterproof mascaras.

6) Which songs get you in the mood of summer and sun?

At the moment it is MKTO’s ‘Classic’ as I just want to dance to this all the time or ‘Friends’ by Jasmine Thompson. Jasmine is an amazing young singer and her music is amazing, her voice is so mature and she does some beautiful covers on Youtube. Find her here: https://www.youtube.com/user/TantrumJas .

7) How do you achieve summer waves in your hair?

I have naturally wavy to curly hair, so I am lucky, but I am trying out new products to help enhance my hair. If you would like to see some product reviews, just let me know, I mostly try affordable drugstore-type hair care products though as I don’t feel comfortable spending too much on my hair.

8) What are your thoughts of the summer trends this year?

I love trends, although mostly I prefer them on other people! I think gingham can look really nice and stylish and I especially love the range of crop tops available. A tip I use, as I am not comfortable with showing my tummy- due to my body shape, is to size up and wear high wasted shorts or skirts.

9) What makes you happy in the season?

Summer evenings, the smell of BBQs, summer fashion and time off school!

10) If you could go anywhere in the world this summer where would you go and why?

I am going to Sorrento this summer which I am so excited about because I love Italy. Other than that I would say either Disneyland Florida or somewhere interesting like Africa/ Thailand/ India.

11) If you went on holiday and all of your luggage got lost/ stolen, what would be the one thing you'd miss/ need the most?

Defiantly either a book, which is a holiday essential, or my sunglasses- which I am obsessed with, because I can’t sunbathe or do anything in the sunshine without them.

12) In summer would you rather wear flowers in your hair or sandals on your feet?

Flowers for sure, real or fake I love the look of them in my hair and them make me feel so happy! If you’re interested in a DIY floral crown, I have a post here: http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/diy-floral-crown-summerstyle.html

13) What is your favourite nail polish colour for summer?

Something bright for me, I am still loving ‘Blueberry’ from BarryM’s nail range as it is my favourite colour blue as it looks so interesting, the shade is pastel but bright, blue but has purple undertones.

14)  Have you been hauling new clothes this summer? If so what is your favourite new buy?

I have been buying a lot of summer clothes lately, for my holiday, and my favourite new thing is defiantly my new Missguided sunflower skater skirt, I haven’t worn it yet but I can’t wait!

15) In summer it is important to protect your head from the sun, so what hat would you wear- a floppy hat, a trilby, a cap or an other type?

I think I’m a floppy hat gal just because I look so funny in any others! I have been trying to protect my head more from the sun, so I will be wearing hats in summer ’14.

So that’s all! I hope this tag put you in a summery mood- it certainly did for me!!!

I tag-
Alessandraily
