Looking Back at 2014

Hey,

So it’s a new year soon and 2015 is in the near future now. I decided it was the perfect time for a reflection of 2014 and time for me to share my plans for 2015 and mydaisychaincloset.

It’s been an amazing year, and I really have loved it. I feel 2014 was the true beginning of this blog and it’s been such a privilege to write for you. I feel my writing and photography has all improved and hopefully my posts have got even bigger and better. Blogmas was really enjoyable too, although a struggle, and a great way to end the year. If you have any thoughts on my posts last year, or anything like that, just let me know in the comments because you are the best way I can learn and better myself.

I hope 2015 will hold great things for this blog too. I’ve got a few new ideas to play about with, and I think a few of the series I created last year will also re-appear! I have decided that in order to keep the quality of my blog posts, and reliability of them fluent, I will keep to my current two posts a week schedule. However I have decided to change my upload day from Wednesday to Thursday, so posts will be Thursdays and Sundays!

I am currently holding a Q&A over on my Q&A page, where you can ask questions anonymously and it only takes a few seconds! You can ask me anything, as there isn’t a theme, so if you have anything about fashion, makeup, blogging etc just head over! OOTW | Birthday Edition

Hey,

So today’s post is a fashion post of the outfits I wore over my birthday weekend. I’ve called it an OOTW but it’s really an outfit of the weekend! I hope you enjoy these few outfits, let me know in the comments below.

So day one was a casual family night to celebrate my Auntie’s birthday but it was also a sort of pre-birthday. I wore my favourite skirt, floral of course, and matched it with a white crop top and denim jacket. I like this look because it’s comfortable, casual but still party-ish.

The next day was Saturday and that was my birthday day and night. For the morning, I must be honest, I wore my pyjamas until about 10 o’clock! After that I wore a casual/formal outfit of my black skirt and pinky-purple top. I also wore a necklace I actually received on my birthday which was a golden wishbone necklace- which I LOVE.

The last day of my OOTW is the day I went out for a Sunday lunch with all of my family. On this day I wanted to look cute but comfortable, and it was also kind of semi-formal. I wore my sunflower skirt, black crop top, new triangle necklace and black brogue heels. I also put on this crochet cardigan to add a little bit of detail to the look.

Fiftenth Birthday Blog Post | 2014

Hey,

So today is a very exciting day for me, it’s my 15^th Birthday! I still feel 14, and can’t believe we’re coming up to a year since I began my blog, but here I am celebrating a new age.

Lately I’ve been wanting to put up one of my lifestyle-like posts but feel a little stuck. I just feel so content and happy at the moment, and wanted to share it with you. Over the summer, I really feel like I changed as a person. I began to prioritise who are my true friends again, spend more time doing what I love – like blogging- and have had some unforgettable experiences.

The greatest thing is that I know this changing won’t end. I still have a lot of exciting things to look forward to this year, and am hopeful that there will be unexpected events along the way. I love grasping the moment now, looking back on the memories and planning for brand new ones.

I, like everyone, go through happy point and sad point, and sometimes both at the same time. However at the moment, I am happy, and I think the happiest I’ve been for a while. It’s the little things, often that build up to bigger things, and lately I have just been stopping looking around myself and smiling.

I am blessed to have a loving family and a dedicated set of friends, I am so lucky to have such incredible opportunities behind and ahead, and I am so happy to have you. Just the fact you clicked on this link, or stumbled across it by mistake means something. Especially I you’ve read through all my blabber and are still reading this.

My blog makes me extremely happy, and I would recommend starting one to anyone. It doesn’t have to be a scheduled weekly blog, just the odd post as a start and build it from there. Make friends, learn a new skill and give it a try. I’d love to help those, like me, who are still beginners to a certain extent, so please leave your links in the comments.

I hope to be getting up a few posts this week, but as I’ve put one up today, I don’t know if there will be one up on Sunday. I hope your days are all amazing,

Harbor Festival 2014 | #summerstyle

So on Sunday I went to the harbor festival, which is an annual event in Bristol at the harbor-side. There are loads of stands and stalls selling food and advertising companies, as well as stages for dance and musical performances.

I had an amazing day and am so happy I got to go. I went along with my best friend and her family, and we walked around for many hours. One of the highlights of my day was going on the vue wheel, which was basically a Ferris wheel that they had put up temporarily. It was £5 per person for the ride, but it was so much fun and the views of Bristol were stunning.

In the middle of the day, we all enjoyed some ice creams. The ice cream van we went to had a combination of 99 ice creams, I got a plain one but there was also a sherbet and mini marshmallow flavour!

Also in the day, at the Cascade Steps stage I listened to music by Brian Inglis and Darren Hodge. I especially enjoyed Darren Hodge’s music, which was a mix of instrument guitar pieces and singing.

At the end of the day we also went to the dance stage, where we saw people dancing with shopping trolleys as well as a beautiful ballet performance.

For the day I wore a simple outfit. The clothes I wore were basic and monochrome, putting me outdide my comfort zone of floral prints and patterned garments. I wore a plain black crop top for H&M, a white floral emboss skater skirt from H&M, white frilled socks from Primark, a brown sactual from Primark and a pair of fake Converse from Peacocks. On my nails I wore a pretty light blue shade, which I liked because it was not too pale or too bright. The shade was ‘Duck Egg Blue’ and it was a No7 nail polish, available at boots.

The Liebster Award

So this weeks post is going to be something different, something exciting for me. I found out about a week and a half ago that one of my lovely readers- Alyssa Barnett., that she nominated me for a Liebster award.

My first reaction was a pleased feeling, that someone had actually come across my blog and read it. They had liked my content enough to recommend me. I was touched.

Then I was curious, as I had never heard of the Liebster award.

1 What Is Your Favourite Childhood Memory? 

Now I’m only 14, so I consider myself still being in my childhood. But some of my favourite memories are from my old home- Bahrian. I lived in Bahrain for 5 years of my childhood, which is a country in the middle east. I have not got a specific memory but all of my time there counts as one big one to me!

2 Natural, Acrylic or Gel Nails?

I love to paint my nails, and I never use fake nails. To answer your question my favourite nail polish is a Barry M Gelly Nail paint, which is a gel nail paint, but my most used are just the basic nail polishes.

3 What Is Your Favorite Perfume?

Again, I don’t really have a favourite perfume, but my favourite body spray is currently Impulse’s sweet smile spray. I reviewed some of their sprays here:

4 What Season Of Life Are You In (Young & Free, Little Ones, Teens, Empty Nest ?)

So currently I am in my teens. I feel like I’m becoming myself and learning as I go. I have created a happy life for myself, with a close best friend and everyday I try to do things for myself and not care about other people’s negative opinions.

5 Cook At Home Or Eat Out?

I don’t cook meals much at home, but I do love to cook! I mostly cook sweet treats like crumbles, chocolate desserts and cakes! If I go out, I love to go out with my family- my current favourite treat being chicken burgers, they are the best things ever!

6 Biggest Fashion Fail?

Ok, so we all have fashion fails as we grow up, those days when we just shake our heads at that old school photo. I would say my worst fashion fail is when I was about 10 and my favourite accessory was the bright tights, when I wore shorts and dresses with yellow, pink, blue… etc tights. I laugh at it now, but for some reason I still find it difficult to through out those old tights J x

7 Best Beauty Invention?

These questions are really difficult! I’m so bad at answering tag questions! Anyway I don’t really know what my best beauty invention is, so I’m going to say my favourite beauty product, sorry! I think my complete favourite beauty product is my Body Shop- Lip butters, mine are in coconut.

8. If You Could Pick Any Profession To Take On What Would It Be?

Well I always struggle with thinking of a career, because there are so many things I want to do. When I was little I always said I wanted to be an artist or author. Now I would say my dream jobs would be to work at Disney, creating a Disney movie as I one of the biggest Disney fan, to do something to do with fashion, or writing about fashion in a magazine or something to do with helping people, possibly teaching those with special needs.

9. Favorite Pastime?

There are so many things I like to do in my spare time including watching Youtube, reading, painting dinsey or doing some art, cooking, singing and dancing to music, having baths and watching Disney. My favourite thing would be depending on my mood at the time, but my favourite ultimate past-time would be spending time with my best friend.

10. Least Favorite Household Duty

The job I most dislike is dusting. I don’t mind doing it, but I always find my bedroom gets so dusty so quickly- so the dusting never ends! It drives me crazy that one day after I’ve dusted, that dust is gathering again!

11. Why Did You Start A Blog?

The reason I started my blog was after mainly factors persuaded me. I watch beauty gurus on Youtube and have always wanted to do something similar, but know I don’t have enough guts to create a Youtube or permission. Another reason is that I have always loved fashion and feel that at my age I am really creating my own personal style. The thing that actually made me begin my blog when I did was Dof E. Originally I was going to use my blog as part of the ‘skill’ part of my DofE, but after I decided on something else. My best friend actually came up with the idea of a blog, and now I carry it on as a hobby and something to do with my spare time!

Mascara Vrs Review

In 2013 I mainly used only two mascaras. These were my Max factor false lash effect (in the purple bottle) and a Barry M black mascara, I’m not completely sure but I think this is the only black mascara that they do. Barry M make up is new to me, but I got it free with a gift bag when I was at the clothes show. Barry M actually do some quite good products, with shimmer dust (a type of eyeshadow) which I’ve been using a lot and the mascara too.

Because I’m reviewing make up and not fashion items the format will be different.

Effect-

Max factor- I think that this mascara is very good as an everyday mascara. It coats the lashes well and evenly, and leaves your lashes looking natural but full.

BarryM- I love this mascara a lot on my lashes. I have quite long lashes anyway but this gives them a fake look but they don’t look overly false. They look bold and strong and I think it really opens up my eyes.

Practicality-

Max factor- although more suitable then the BarryM for everyday and school use, the mascara I had wasn’t water proof and in the rain I developed black tears.

BarryM- My BarryM mascara is waterproof and I don’t find it wears off too much in the day. It does give your lashes a look that makes it obvious you are wearing mascara but I don’t think it is that bad.

Value for money- £11.99 (from Boots online). Max factor is an expensive brand to buy off, it has to be said. But all their mascaras come with a price tag and my mascara lasted me months. I do think it is a little too pricy though and I don’t think I can afford to repurchase.

BarryM- £6.19 (online price). At nearly half of the price of the Max factor I think this mascara is great value for money. There are cheaper mascaras then both of these but I think it’s a more respectable price at just over £6.

Overall I think my personal favourite is the BarryM mascara, this has really surprised me because a month ago I didn’t even know BarryM did make up! I just think because it is good for everyday wear and party wear, it is waterproof and isn’t too expensive the mascara is underestimated and isn’t talked about enough.
