Bathtime Review- LUSH Gold FUN | Blogmas Day 5

So recently I made the brave decision to battle the crowds in LUSH in order to treat myself to a pamper product. I had a great time smelling all the different Christmas bits, and in the end I went for a product I’ve never tried before- FUN.

FUN is basically an all-round product that works as a soap, shampoo and bubble bath. It’s a little bit more pricy than other lush products, but you only use a little amount at a time, so lasts for a lot more baths.

The FUN I have is in the gold scent, which smells so much like toffee! The FUN is a golden colour and has flecks of golden glitter in it.

Another thing about fun is that it is mouldable so you can change its shape. It’s only a bit of fun but I like having something to do while my bath water is running.

If you want to use it as a bubble bath, like I did, just crumble a small amount under the running tap.  This makes your bath smell so nice because the scent of the FUN spreads in your water. The strength of the colour depends on how much of your FUN you use in your bath; for me this was not a problem as I only used a small bit, so my bath did not turn too yellowy.

I love the smell of this product so much and I love the fact that it is reusable! It’s £5 and has been brought out especially for Christmas this year. I have only used it once so far but am excited for using it now its winter!

Fifteen Festive Questions Tag | Blogmas Day 4

Hey,

So I’ve been feeling really festive at the moment (well, it is December now) and I decided that I would answer the questions to the ‘fifteen festive questions’ tag, started by Tom Fletcher on Youtube. I think this tag is really cute and a bit of Christmas is always what I want to feel.

 What is your favourite...?

1. Festive food

I would say that my favourite festive treat is a warm mince pie. I think they are really yummy and every year me and dad make our own and they’re always really special.

2. Reindeer

So I thought this question was so cute, but I can’t come up with which would be my favourite. I think Prancer sounds cute, but Rudolf is a classic so I will just have to say that I love them all equally.

3. Day of Christmas

Ever since I was in reception, and I had the grand job of holding up a sign with it on, it’s been ‘5 golden rings’. It’s defiantly the best lyric, which is why everyone normally sings it with so much.

4. Christmas Song

Such a difficult question! Michael Buble’s Christmas album plays on repeat in my life at Christmas, I’ve already listened to it over 20 times and there’s still a while to go before the exciting day!

5. Christmas Present

I don’t know if this means the type of present or the best present I think I’ve ever had. I love getting Christmas presents that aren’t generic and show some thought, but I also love receiving bath stuff/ chocolate. My favourite Christmas present from last year was my camera (nikon coolpix camera l310) which I use all the time for photography and taking my blog photos.

6. Christmas Film

This question is such a personal one because there are so many great Christmas films but everyone prefers different ones. I would say my top three are Elf, Scrooged and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. They are my family’s favourites and are the three that are always on the top of our lists.

7. Christmas Cracker toy

Now I have interpreted this in my own way because I think it’s the paper hat. I love that a simple tradition can persuade a whole family to wear a bright paper hat and the special feeling it holds. No matter what age you are, or who you are, everyone in joined in wearing this crown.  

8. Christmas Cracker joke

Why did Santa's helper see the doctor?

Because he had a low "elf" esteem!

9. Decoration

I love decorating the house, and my room especially, at Christmas time. The tree is the best thing, but I don’t really class the tree as a decoration, more of an essential! My favourite things to put in my bedroom are my cuddly Santa claws toy I won in year 6 and my twinkly fairy lights. Hopefully I will also be doing a Christmas room decorations video this month!

10. Candle scent

My favourite Christmas candle has always been my ‘traditional Christmas’ scented candle from Homesense I bought last year. Sadly it’s just run out now, so I’m going to have to find a new Christmas scent. If any of you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments!

11. Christmas advert

My favourite Christmas advert of all time was the John Lewis advert a few years ago with the two snowman. Not lying, I cried at it on more than one occasion. I love the way it promoted the message of going out of your way to make someone happy, so festive!

12. Festive Tradition

Recently a big family tradition around Christmas has been a big family board game competition. I love it because we arnt all gathered around the telly, and it’s great because we make our own fun. I feel so happy at those times and it’s always a huge laugh!

13. Place to spend Christmas

Weirdly I would say not at home. I love Christmas with the family, but it’s definatly better at one of my grandparents houses because it feels a lot more special having to travel for Christmas! I don’t think I’ve ever had a Christmas away from family though, I really couldn’t imagine what it’s like!

14. Festive Fact

I found this one online and I thought it was funny- most of Santa’s reindeer have male-sounding names, such as Blitzen, Comet, and Cupid. However, male reindeers shed their antlers around Christmas, so the reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh are likely not male, but female.

15. Snowman accessory

Isn’t it obvious? It has to be the carrot nose! Every snowman has a different fashion sense; some wear hats, some wear hats, some wear not much at all. The carrot is what makes every snowman joined, and I like the idea that when the snow melts an animal/ creature gets a winter treat of a carrot for tea. Plus, Olaf was always overjoyed with his nose when he got it!

DIY Frosted Tealights | Blogmas Day 3

So I am very excited about today’s Blogmas post because I am doing a festive DIY. The idea of this DIY isn’t originally mine as I took inspiration from many similar ideas on Pinterest. Pinterest is a GREAT website for DIYs, and if you fancy making something this season, be sure to check it out.

The DIY I am making today is frosted tealights, which is basically tea light holders decorated with white glimmer (that’s looks so much like snow/frost). The DIY is SO simple and cheap to make, as well as the fact that it uses recycled jars.

If you’re a reader of my blog, you may remember that I did a tealight DIY earlier this year, in February, using old tins and I know this is similar but I could not resist showing you what I made! I hope you enjoy!

This DIY takes about 2 hours on average, taking in mind that the PVA glue needs to set.

What you will need:

·         Old/used jars which have been cleaned out

·         White glitter, or another glitter of your choice

·         PVA glue

·         Masking tape, masking tape works so much better than other tape because it comes off easier  

·         Sponge/ paint brush

·         Spare glass

·         Scissors

·         Newspaper

·         Optional- decorative bits, for example ribbons

1.       Make sure your jar is clean and does not have the label/ any label glue attatched. You can use any shape/ size jar depending on what you have spare. Some ideas are old glasses, sauce jars, jam jars and Nutella jars.

2.       Choose your first jar, take the masking tape and choose how high up you want the glitter to come to. Then carefully wrap the tap around, trying the get the line as level as possible as this will give you the best result. If your jar is smaller at the top and some cuts into the masking tape.

3.       Now newspaper your work space.

4.       Next pour out some PVA and dip your sponge into it. Don’t put too much glue on otherwise the glitter may clump.

5.       Pour some glitter into your spare glass, you only need a little amount, and tip it onto a part of the glue. Then try and pour the glitter back into the cup, repeat the process until the glued section is covered in a thin layer of glitter.

6.       Leave the jar aside for at least 45 minutes. This will let the glue dry so that the glitter sets.

7.       When the glitter it set, carefully unpeel the masking tape, revealing a crisp straight line around your jar.

8.       Now you can add any decoration if you want to. I love how the jars look with and without decoration, but adding to the does make them look more professional and personalised. You can add whatever you want, for example, stickers, Christmas decoration, ribbons or bows. I made one using a holly card-making decoration and a red ribbon.

9.       Add a tealight and light on a festive night to see the frosted look! I used a variety of unscented and scented tealights for mine, I would definitely recommend getting some scented ones from ikea, these vanilla ones are really strong for the price I paid.

And that’s all. I love this because it is so easy and everyone can do it. I think the tealights are great for Christmas because they look so wintery! I think they are a great gift idea and would be perfect for a friend/ family member, as well as a neighbour/ teacher.  You can change the DIY to suit you and play around with the design to make it unique. Some extra ideas could be to change the colour of the glitter, make snowflakes and stars spaces in between the glitter and change decorations.

All About That Base Makeup | Blogmas Day 2

Happy Blogmas day 2 everyone! So today I’m going to be doing a grouped review of some foundations/ base makeup products. I am rating four different bases, which I have tested over a few months. I hope you enjoy the post and let me know if you’ve tried any of these!

So the first one is the ‘Dream Pure BB Cream’ from Maybelline. This product is meant to be a lighter weight base, a good choice for day-to-day wear and those warmer days. I bought this product for summer this year but I wasn’t convinced. The first thing I found was that the BB crème’s colour range was rubbish. If I remember rightly, there were only two colour choices- which is obviously disappointing because the shade never quite suits your skin. I also found that the BB crème smelt odd, and wasn’t a nice consistency to put on your face. Although the coverage is thinner, I would prefer to wear just concealer than this. Great price (£6.99) but sub-standard product. I give it just 6/10.

The next product is Rimmel London’s ‘Wake Me Up’ foundation. I bought this recently because of the good reviews this product always seems to get online. And, I was impressed! I learnt, very quickly, that with this product- and many other foundation and bases- that a little goes a long way. The Wake Me Up foundation has a glow-y look, and if you’re looking for a matte product- this is NOT for you. There are quite a lot of shade choices, which is great, and it is still very affordable. I love this product at the moment, so it deserves a 9/10.

The third product is the Maybelline ‘Dream Matte Mousse’. This product is special to me because it was one of the very first makeup items I had. The mouse is a thick formation that can be used as an all over the face product or to target areas like a concealer. If I used this now, I would probably not like it because the consistency is quite odd. I think this is great for beginners because it’s so easy to use. It can be applied with hands or with a brush, and comes with a HUGE amount of shade choices. It is again quite cheap(£7.69), so for beginners I give this a 7/10.

The last product is the Collection ‘Lasting Perfection’ foundation. I think I forgot about how much I like this product. It includes a SPF and is such a nice consistency. This is smooth, and again a small amount goes a long way. It is a matte base, and is great for any makeup user. I would recommend this for all year wear because you can layer it up of just use a small amount. There are six shades, but the colour range isn’t that great. The best thing about this is the price as it’s just £5.99! So I give this a 9/10.

I'm doing BLOGMAS | Blogmas Day 1

Hey,

So I can finally tell you about the exciting announcement I’ve been planning, I AM DOING BLOGMAS! I really deliberated over this for a while because of all the work and time it would take me, but I have finally decided that I’m up for the challenge.

If you don’t know what Blogmas is, I am going to be putting on blog posts every day of December up until Christmas!

So I hope you’re all getting excited, I know I am. I will be putting up a mixture of posts, but do expect more chatty/ lifestyle posts. I would also like to let you know a handful of my posts will be pre-done and scheduled, but I hope you understand this because of all the school work I will still have.

I am also going to be doing another Q&A this month, so please ask me questions of my Qoohme Q&A page, linked at the bottom of this post! This month’s question are going to be themed around Christmas and winter, so if you have any please head over there!
